Call for Papers: International Conference: Shakespeare in America, Mexico City.

To commemorate the 400th aniversary of Shakespeare’s death, The First International Shakespeare Conference in Mexico, will be held at the Faculty of Languages and Lettres of the Universidad Autonoma de Queretaro, the 8th best ranked public university in Mexico – located in one of the most cultural and historical cities of the country – on 15 to 17 March 2016.  The theme of the conference will be “Shakespeare in America,” (Papers in English or Spanish).

We encourage all participants to devote thought in some way to this main theme so as to advance the common discussion at the conference. Papers may address, but are by no means restricted to, the following subtopics:

  1. The thematic depictions of America in Shakespeare’s texts or performances
  2. The reception of Shakespeare in United States, Canada, Mexico or the Americas
  3. Identities and new cultures as a result of Shakespeare influence in American art and theatre.

Cost of inscription: 80USD. Discount of 50% to members of the Scandinavian Shakespeare Society.

All papers should be planned for a maximum of 20 minutes in presentation length. Abstracts should be no more than 300 words long and should include a brief 1-page CV (deadline for abstracts January 30th 2016).
